Many iPhone users have already updated to the latest iOS 12.2 version as soon as it’s available. I was not also an exception when I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to give a try to Apple News Plus. Aside from hundreds of magazines, I was also impressed by the news-subscription service.
However, when I discovered my favorite topics, the Apple News app suddenly got crashing on my iPhone 7 Plus. Sometimes, the app immediately quits at launch, or closes out while being used.

How To Fix Apple News App Not Working Problem
Solution 1: Force Close Apple News App and Re-open It
This method sounds quite simple, and some of you wonder why I suggest it. However, you might not know that it’s been the most reliable tricks to fix minor issues on iOS devices.
To force quit an app on your iPhone with the physical Home button, simply double press the Home button, and swipe up on the app preview to force close it.
On iPhone X, 2018 iPad Pro and later models, you simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen and then hold in the middle to open up App Switcher. From there, simply swipe up on the app card to force close it. Once done, reopen the News app and check if it has started to work normally.
Solution 2: Hard Reboot Your Phone
A forced reboot is a great solution every time your iPhone seems to get stuck or work unexpectedly. So, remember to perform a forced restart to see show its reliability.
To force reboot iPhone 8, or later and 2018 iPad Pro, you need to press and release the Volume Up button. After that, press and release Volume Down button. Finally, press and hold the Power button until you see the Apple logo.
On iPhone 7/7 Plus models: simply press and hold the Power + Volume Down buttons at once.
On older models: just press and hold the Power + Home buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds.
After your iPhone reboots, open Apple News app and check if the problem is already gone.
Solution 3: Update Your iPhone To The Latest iOS Version
The might go rogue due to some unexpected bugs, and an iOS update is a perfect solution to fix for them. You should update your iOS device to the latest version when it’s available. As soon as it’s available, simply download and install it on your phone.
Solution 4: Remove The App And Reinstall It
If the problem still persists, you should delete and then reinstall the app. This trick has worked for some users in troubleshooting the crashing app problem. So, I hope this trick works for you.
To uninstall News app, hold on it and then hit the “X” button when the icon starts jiggling. Next, tap on Delete in the popup. Re-open App Store, find the Apple News app and reinstall it.
