Siri is one of the most advanced virtual assistants in the world. Apple’s personal helper has received mostly positive reviews from users and tech experts since it made its debut back in 2011. Siri has changed so much since then and it has quickly become the standard feature on the current iPhone models. With iOS 10, Siri is a lot more useful, as it is finally open to third-party developers. This means that you now can control non-Apple apps with your voice. For example, you can send messages to people you are connected with in LinkedIn or look for pins you have saved in Pinterest.
However, there are times when Siri becomes a cause of annoyance, as it may stop working, thus making it much harder for users to interact with apps. If you are experiencing the issue, don’t freak out because we are here to help.
In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through some tips to fix Siri not working on your iPhone or iPad.
Make sure everything is fine
If Siri doesn’t work as intended, the first thing you need to do is to check if your iPhone or iPad is now connected to a Wi-Fi network or cellular connection. After that, make sure that nothing is covering the microphone on your iPhone or iPad.
If the problem still persists, make sure that Siri is now enabled in Settings and you are speaking clearly so that Siri can recognize your voice.
Reboot your device
Rebooting serves as the easiest way to fix issues on your iPhone and iPad. With the release of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, process of force rebooting is a little bit different.
If you now own an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, all you need to do is to hold both Volume Down and Power button at the same time.
If you now have older iPhone models, you simply need to hold down the Home button and Power button at the same time
Turn off Siri and turn it back on
If the above-mentioned solution doesn’t work for you, you can try disabling Siri or enable it again. Here is how you can do that.
Step one: First off, you need to launch the Settings app from your home screen and head to Siri
Step two: Next up, you are supposed to tap on the toggle next to Siri to enable it. Once you are done, flip the switch to OFF position, wait a few moments and turn on the switch again.
Step three: Once you are done, you simply need to hold down the Home button to enable Siri.
