One of the most noticeable additions to the new MacBook Pro is a brand new Touch Bar, which sits on the top of keyboard and replaces the traditional function keys. Basically, the new Touch Bar offers one-tap access to common features and shortcuts on your Mac. However, if you find Touch Bar annoying, you can turn it off.

In reality, macOS doesn’t include a switch to turn off Touch Bar on your new MacBook Pro, but you can set the Touch Bar to show the regular media controls and traditional function keys.

In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through the steps to disable Touch Bar on MacBook Pro

Steps to disable Touch Bar on the new MacBook Pro

Step one: First off, you need to open System Preferences from the Dock or Apple Menu. After that, you need to click the Keyboard icon and then click the Keyboard tab to proceed

Step two: Once you are done, you need to open the menu next to “ Touch Bar shows” and select Expanded Control Strip from the drop-down menu

  • Note that Control Strip allows you to adjust common settings on your Mac such as brightness or volume, or interact with Siri

Step three: Next up, you need to open the menu next to “Press Fn key to” and choose Show F1,F2, etc. Keys from the drop-down menu
