The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have been available for a while. This year’s iPhone models may let you down thanks to their similar design to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. However, the pair still rank among the best-selling smartphones in the market.
There is something you may not have noticed is that iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come with two different LTE modems from either Qualcomm or Intel, and it appears that the Qualcomm one is noticeably faster than the Intel counterpart.
If you want to find out if your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus has faster or slower LTE, we believe that we can help you out. In this guide, we will walk you through two methods to check if you have a slower or faster iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. Here we go:
- Use your phone’s model number
Every iPhone has its own model number and you can easily access it in the Settings app on your iPhone. Here is how
Step one: First off, you need to launch the Settings app from your home screen. Once you are in, scroll down to General and tap on it to proceed
Step two: Next up, you are supposed to tap on About at the top of the General screen. After that, scroll down to the bottom and tap on Legal
Step three: Once you are done, tap Regulatory. Now, you will see your phone’s model number that stays at the top in small print. If you have A1660 or A1661, you now have a faster iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus with Qualcomm modem. If your phone’s model number is A1778 or A1784, you now have a slower iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus with Intel modem.
- Use a third-party app
If you find the above-mentioned method annoying, there is a third-party app called Lirum Info Lite, which can be downloaded for free from the App Store. Note that there is also a paid version of the app, but you don’t actually need it here.
Step one: You need to launch the app on your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. Once you are done, all you need to do is to tap the menu to proceed
Step two: Next up, you are now supposed to select This Device. After that tap General and you will see your phone’s model number there and you are ready to go now.
That’s it! Remember that Intel or Qualcomm modem does not matter because you now have one of the fastest smartphones on the market.
