In iOS 10, Apple first introduced iMessage App Store, which allows you to download third-party apps or sticker packs right within your messaging thread, eliminating the need to leave the app.
In other words, the simple Messages app we have been familiar with has turned into a fun, interactive communication service where you can spice up your conversation using apps, drawings, stickers, message effects, and more.
In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to download apps in iOS 10 Messages on iPhone. Here we go
Steps to download apps in iOS 10 Messages on iPhone
Step one: First and foremost, you have to open the Messages app on your iPhone. Once you are in, open the existing conversation thread or create a new one
Step two: Next up, tap the arrow button next to the input field and tap on the App Store icon to proceed
Step three: All you have to do now is to tap on the four dots at the bottom left. This step will take you to your app drawer, which houses all installed apps
Step four: To open the iMessage App Store, you simply tap on the “+” icon. In the Featured section, select an app and tap Get and then Install to download the app. Passwords and Touch ID authentication are required, as we have already seen in the App Store.
Step five: Once the download is complete, the app will be available as an iOS add-on. All you have to do now is to head to the Manage tab and install the app.
Step six: Once the installation is complete, you will see that the toggle next to your app is now turned on (green). Click Done, and the newly added app is now available in your app drawer.
Note that when you download an app that has an iMessage component, it will be added to your app drawer automatically. However, you can easily turn off auto iMessage app installs with some simple steps.
Steps to remove an app from iOS 10 Messages
Step one: Head back to the iMessage App Store and tap the “Manage” tab
Step two: You will see all installed apps here. All you have to do now is to tap on the toggle next to the app you want to remove.
