Apple iPhone ranks among the best smartphones in the market, thanks to its premium design and exclusive features. What sets iPhone apart from other competitors lies in its high level of stability, but there are exceptions to everything. There are times when you encounter some problems with your iPhone, ranging from poor battery life to connectivity issues.
In this case, a lot of users have reported that their iPhones fail to turn on and the screen remains black, forcing them to press the Power or Home button multiple times. If you are among those who have been hit by the issue, don’t worry because we are here to help.
In this post, we will show you how to fix an iPhone that will not turn on or iPhone screen remains black issue. Before we dive in, make sure that you now have a modern version of iOS.
How to fix an iPhone that will not turn on
Make sure that you plug your device to the charger
Before trying to do anything, try plugging your iPhone to the battery charger. By doing that, you should see the charging screen, meaning that your battery was drained completely. If this is the case, all you need to do is wait for the charging process to complete and power on your iPhone. If you don’t see anything after plugging your device to the charger, grab a different charger and try again.
If the problem still persists, the software could be to blame, preventing your iPhone from turning on. In this case, a hard reset may do the trick. For those who may not know, iPhone hard resets can fix random issues that other troubleshooting cannot fix, like frozen iPhone, app crashes, or poor cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity.
If you now own an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, the method used to perform a hard reset is quite different than older iPhone models.
Step one: First off, you need to press and hold the Lock/Wake button located at the right side of the device. At the same time, make sure that you press and hold the Volume button
Step two: Keep holding all the buttons until you see the Apple logo. Once your iPhone finishes booting up, you should see the lock screen. This means that the problem has been fixed, but if the display is not showing anything, read on.
Take your device to the Apple Store
If the display is not showing anything after your iPhone finishes booting up, there is a good chance that you now have a hardware problem. If you are not sure, connect your iPhone to the computer and open iTunes (make sure that you are now using the latest version of iTunes). If you hear any sound, this means that there is a hardware problem. To fix the issue, bring your iPhone to a local Apple Store.
Restore your iPhone
If you are asked to connect your iPhone to iTunes after your device finishes rebooting, try restoring your iPhone. The process is pretty simple, and we will show you how.
Step one: Connect your iPhone to a computer and then open iTunes (Make sure that you now have the latest iTunes on your computer)
Step two: Once your device enters the Recovery mode, you will be asked to restore your device. Hit the Restore button and wait for the process to complete.
These are four tips to fix an iPhone that will not turn on. Hopefully, they work for you. If not, make sure that you bring your iPhone to a local Apple Store.
