Windows 10 has come with a number of changes and improvements that is why many macOS owners are now switching to Windows. Although macOS has its own fair strengths, Apple’s has primarily been focusing on iOS platform for recent years.

However, fortunately, Apple makes it now straightforward when allows users to use Boot Camp to Windows on Mac devices. But you should note that Boot Camp works with Windows 8 or higher and just supports 64-bit versions. You will have to prepare an original Windows 10 ISO file before proceeding to the steps below.

If you don’t already get a Windows 10 ISO file, you can download it directly from Microsoft. Make sure that you have 55GB of free space on your Mac for the Windows 10 installation and have an at least 16GB USB pen drive. The faster the pen drive is, the faster the installation will be. You can use Microsoft’s Windows USB/DVD Download tool to create a bootable Windows 10 USB drive.

The latest Macs don’t require a USB pen drive as they can independently store the installation files on the disk. If you are using one of these following Macs, it does not require you a USB pen drive:

  • MacBook Pro (2015 and higher)
  • MacBook Air (2015 and higher)
  • MacBook (2015 and higher)
  • iMac (2015 and higher)
  • iMac Pro
  • Mac Pro (Late 2013)

How To Install Windows 10 on your Mac

  1. From your your Mac, launch the Boot Camp Assistant app, locating inside the Applications > Utility.
  2. Now, you have to browse your Boot Camp to the Windows 10 ISO file as well as partition the current hard drive on your Mac to get space for Windows 10. Simply choose the partition size as you won’t be able to shrink the partition later on.
  3. Boot Camp will now start downloading Windows support software. Depending on your internet connection, the process might take between 5-10 minutes. Once done, the installer will partition your Mac hard disk and proceed forward with the installation.
  4. You are now asked for passwords after restarting your MacBook. You will then be greeted with the Windows 10 installer screen. Follow the on-screen instruction to install Windows 10 like on any Windows PC. The steps are very simple and you won’t face any issues. During the installation process, you will be prompted to choose the partition where you want to install Windows 10 version. All you need is choosing the “Boot Camp” partition and then perform it as the NTFS format to continue the installation.
  5. Once the Windows 10 installation is completed simply set up the new OS and then update it to download the relevant driver updates.

Once you finish the initial setup steps and go in the desktop, the Boot Camp installer will then automatically install necessary drivers for your Mac.
