Step one: First off, open the Contacts app on your Mac and then select All Contacts from the left-side menu
Step two: Once you are in, head to the Apple menu, then click on Card and select Look for Duplicates from the pull-down menu
Step three: Your Mac will then display all the duplicate contacts stored in the Contacts app. From the list of the number cards, click on Merge to merge the cards and information and then you are good to go. You can also remove unnecessary contacts from your Mac. To do this, select the contact you wish to remove and hit the Delete button.
How to merge and remove duplicate contacts from iCloud
If you do not have a Mac, then you can use your Windows-based PC to access your contacts. To do this, all you need to do is to sign in with your iCloud account details. Here is how.
Step one: Fire up your preferred web browser on your PC and visit iCloud.com
Step two: Once you are in, sign in with your iCloud account details and then hit Contacts from the list
Step three: Select All Contacts from the left-side menu. After that, hold down the Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) key and select all the duplicate contacts you wish to remove
Step four: Hit the cog icon in the lower left corner and proceed with clicking on the Delete button
Step five: Confirm your action by clicking on the Delete button from the pop-up menu.
Alternatively, if you want to want to remove multiple contacts at once on your Mac, hold down the Command key and start clicking on contact names. After that, click on Edit from the Apple menu, then select Delete Cards and hit the blue Delete button.
