Walkie-Talkie is a new app in WatchOS 5 version. The app offers a fun way to send quick messages. Featuring a neat interface, you will feel it familiar. In this post today, we will tell you how to use Walkie-Talkie app on Apple Watch running WatchOS 5.
However, before getting started, you should make sure that your Apple Watch is on-board. The new voice-messaging app only works through iPhone connection and Wi-Fi connection. But if your Watch is Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE, using this app is very simple.
How to Use Walkie-Talkie on Apple Watch
Add Friends to Your Walkie-Talkie List
To get started, you need first to send an invitation to your friends. Once they accept your request, you can then go on a long roll. To do so:
Step 1: Open the Walkie-Talkie app on your WatchOS 5.
Step 2: You will now see the list of all your contacts. Choose contacts to send a request. (Make sure your friends are also using an Apple Watch running watchOS 5.)
Your friends will then receive a request saying that you want to talk to him/her through Walkie-Talkie.
There are two options for the receiver:
- Always Allow
- Dismiss the request
Step 3: Once a contact has been added to your list, you will see it appearing in the Watch app under Walkie-Talkie.
Simply going forward and you can now start sending a message to your friend.
Send a Voice Message with Walkie-Talkie on Apple Watch
Sending a message with Walkie-Talkie app is very simple.
Step 1: Launch Walkie-Talkie app on your Watch.
Step 2: Next, tap on a contact card.
Step 3: Now, touch and hold Talk button in order to record the speech.
Step 4: Once done, just release the button.
That’s all! Your message will immediately be sent.
When receiving a message, it will automatically be played. There is an option to adjust the volume with the Digital Crown. To do this, simply turn it up or down.
One more thing you should note is that you can easily get into the Walkie-Talkie conversation through AirPods or connected Bluetooth accessories as well.
Apart from that, a shortcut of the Walkie-Talkie app will also show up at the top of watch face being used. All you need is tapping on the app icon to return to it.
Switch to Unavailable Mode to Avoid Talking
In some cases, you don’t want to communicate with anyone. Walkie-Talkie allows you to switch to the unavailable mode without receiving messages.
Step 1: Launch Walkie-Talkie app on your watch.
Step 2: Swipe all the way up to open Available switch. Next, simply toggle it on.
If anyone who intends to communicate with, they will see that you are unavailable and you will receive the alert warning that someone tried to talk with you.
Add/Delete a Contact in Walkie-Talkie
You can easily manage your contacts in the messaging app by adding or deleting contacts without any difficulty. To do so
Step 1: launch Walkie-Talkie app on your Watch.
Step 2: Tap on the + button below the list and then add the contacts you’d like to chat with. To remove a contact, simply swipe left on a contact card and tap on the red “X” button. (You can also delete a contact through the Watch app)
