In this case, we have heard a number of reports of the issue that users have been facing with their iPhone keyboard where it freezes suddenly, disabling the ability to type anything.
Many users have reported that the issue emerged after updating to iOS 10. The problem forces them to kill the open app and re-launch it. If you are experiencing the issue, don’t rush to bring your iPhone to the Apple Store, because we have solutions for your problem.
How to fix iPhone keyboard freezing problem in iOS 10
- Update to the latest iOS 10 firmware
Updating to a newer iOS version is always the first thing you need to do is to fix the issue. Basically, a firmware update usually focuses on bug fixes that were found in the previous version.
The latest iOS firmware you can get now is iOS 10.1.1. To get the update, you can head to the Settings app from your home screen, then select Software Update, and tap on the install button
- Hard Reset
If the above-mentioned solution doesn’t work for you, you can hard reset your device to fix the issue. However, make sure that you are now using an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus before moving ahead due to the new virtual Home button that is present on the latest iPhones. Here is how you do it:
Step one: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button located on the right-hand side of your phone
Step two: Next up, press and hold the Volume button. Make sure you keep the Lock/Wake button pressed. Keep doing that until you see the Apple logo
Step three: Wait until the lock screen shows up.
- Turn off Predictive Keyboard
QuickType predictive keyboard is among the greatest additions to iOS 10, as it suggests users words in accordance with their conversation style. However, it could be the culprit that prevents you from typing anything with your iPhone keyboard. To disable it, you can head to Settings > General > Keyboard and turn off the toggle next to “Predictive keyboard”.
- Disable Check Spelling
You can easily turn off Check Spelling by going to Settings > General > Keyboard and turn off Check Spelling.
- Reset all settings
Resetting all settings could be one of the most effective methods you can use to fix the annoying issue. Here is how you do it:
Step one: Launch the Settings app and select General to proceed
Step two: Tap Reset and select Reset all Settings and enter your passcode. Note that: Doing so will not remove any data from your iPhone, but it will reset all the current settings of your iPhone.
