Last year, Apple announced a brand new 13 inch MacBook with an overhauled trackpad called the Force Touch trackpad. The new trackpads, which are limited on some Macs, are quite impressive, as they allow your device to distinguish between a light press and a deep press.

Force Touch trackpad allows you to quickly access your app windows on your Mac. To do this, all you have to do is to Force Click on an icon in the Dock on your Mac and you will get App Exposé that shows all open windows for that app

You now can easily see the content of a file without even opening it by simply performing a force click on a document and you will see a Quick Look of that file’s content.

  1. Rename a file

If you want to quickly rename a file on your Mac, all you have to do is to Force Click on a file name in the Finder or on your Desktop to edit the name to your liking.

Force Touch Trackpad on Mac lets you easily look up a word with a simple step. You simply need to perform a Force Click on text in a webpage or Mail message and you will get the Look Up popover with text sources from Dictionary, Wikipedia, and more.

This could be one of the my favorite features when it comes with Force Touch Trackpad on Mac. All you have to do is to perform a Force Click on a link in Safari and you will get an inline preview of the webpage.

  1. Annotate the attachment in Mail

Every time you compose a message in Mail with an image or PDF file, Force Click that attachment to bring up Markup, which allows you to annotate the attachment.

  1. See Reminders details

If you want to see more about your Reminder you have set on your Mac like location and time, all you have to do is to perform a Force Click on that reminder and you will see more details about it.

  1. Preview an address

If you are looking for a restaurant in town, all you have to do is to Force Click on its address and a popover will show up with a detailed map of that location

  1. Tracking numbers

You simply need to Force Click on tracking number in Safari or Mail and you will set the shipping details in a popover.

  1. Add an event

You can easily add an event your calendar by performing a Force Click on a date and you will get a popover that allows you to add it your calendar.
