Apple always releases the developer betas for its upcoming software updates in an attempt to collect feedback from users prior to the final release. Apple has today provided developers with a fourth pre-release beta of tvOS 10.1 for testing purposes following the launch of the tvOS 10.1 beta 3 two weeks ago and tvOS 10 in September.
tvOS 10.1 beta 4 is specifically designed for the fourth generation Apple TV. You can get tvOS 10.1 beta 4 by connecting your Apple TV to a computer with a USB-C to USB-A cable. After that, you can download and install the new software from your registered developer account via iTunes. Once you have installed a beta profile on your device via iTunes, the beta update will be available over the air.
The upcoming tvOS 10.1 update is expected to come with a long-awaited feature called Single Sign-On that allows users to authenticate with their cable providers to unlock all compatible paid video apps. The new feature was previously available in the first developer beta of tvOS 10.1. According to Apple, Single Sign-on feature already hits major internet television services including DirectTV, Sling TV, Hotwire and more.
Apple has recently introduced the new TV app, which serves as a perfect destination for finding and watching television and movies across multiple Apple devices. Besides, the app includes a store, recommended content and support for cross-device syncing. There is also a new Apple TV app called iBook Story Time aiming to help children improve their reading skills through many built-in features including interactive audio, Read-Aloud and even more.
